Under the able-guidance and supervision of the Auckland House Boys Principal, Michael A. John an Art and Craft Exhibition was held on 2nd August, 2014 in the school premises. The exhibition was presided over by Deputy Director, Higher Education, District Shimla, Shyam Singh Chauhan as the Chief Guest who was greeted with a basket of flowers and then he declared the exhibition open. Director Principal, Auckland House School, Sunita John, State Convenor, INTACH, Maalvika Pathania, noted author and Co-Convenor, INTACH, Raja Bhasin, Principal Orchid Prep School, New Shimla, Neelam Vij were also present on this occasion. The boys of Nursery to Form IX displayed their skills through various art and craft items.
The classrooms were beautifully decorated with paintings, collages and craft items. It was really surprising to see such amazing creations put forth by the boys, as usually boys are associated with sports or academics. The students of Under Kindergarten cutely explained their projects – ‘Journey of Milk’ and ‘Good Living’, thus emphasizing the importance of milk and good living in our lives. Yashvardhan S Dogra and Tashi Negi stressed upon the message of good living and keeping the environment clean. Through various paintings, be it lady finger painting, wax painting, dot painting, sand painting, etc the classrooms looked very colourful and bright.
The exhibition hall was also decorated with various pastings done with paper, mirror, rice, cotton, ice-cream sticks, thermocol balls, sequins, glitter, bindi, wool, feather pasting, etc, through which the innovative skills and talent of students was displayed, which was appreciated by each and everyone . Sujaan Kaushik and Tanav Gupta of Form I spoke on ‘Natural Calamities’ and ‘Pollution’ thus making us aware of the disastrous after effects of such calamities, while Arnav Shyam and Athrav Dogra spoke on different types of pollution. Aadvay Sood and Sanidhya Prasher of Form II explained ‘Life in a Village’ whereas Shreyan Sharma and Arya Sharma spoke on various ‘Uses of Plants’.
The senior boys displayed subject specific models in English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Computers and all of them explaining the same with utmost confidence and poise. Chief Guest Shyam listened to each and every concept carefully as the students explained subject related topics. A live demonstration of a volcano eruption and the release on carbon dioxide experiment was deftly showcased by the students. Mr Shayam also put forth few random questions to the boys and was quite impressed with their knowledge and understanding as each was answered brilliantly.
The last hall was nicely decorated with some amazing paintings and sketches, embroidery work wall hangings painting, etc. The following students explained the craft work — from Nursery section it was Aaidan Gowher, Rudar Mehta and Shorya Bhapta; Lower Kindergarten it was Nivedit Dogra and Aprameya Sayal; Upper Kindergarten it was Shreyansh Sharma; Form I it was Samarth Thakur and Aadish Verma; Form II it was Arman Thakur and Harshil Thakur. Each and every item was made by the boys with the help of their teachers and assistance and support of their parents.
