Auckland House School for Girls commemorated India’s 79th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration that echoed the spirit of unity, patriotism, and cultural harmony.
The day began with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Principal Smaraki Samanthroy, followed by the National Anthem, which filled the school grounds with pride and reverence.
Reflecting the school’s commitment to “Unity in Diversity,” the celebration featured sacred readings from the Bible, Quran, Granth Sahib, and Bhagavad Gita—highlighting the shared values of peace and compassion found across faiths. In her address, Principal Samanthroy urged students to live harmoniously, support one another, and work together to create a better world.
A colourful cultural programme followed, showcasing the students’ love for the nation through patriotic songs, traditional dances, and dramatic performances. Each act paid tribute to India’s rich heritage and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters, while reinforcing values of secularism, brotherhood, and national pride.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the students—to honor the ideals of freedom and to play their part in building a more inclusive and progressive society.
