Auckland House Girls Shine at Shimla Grappling Meet

Demonstrating remarkable talent and determination, the girls of Auckland House School made a strong mark at the 4th District Shimla Grappling Championship, held at the Indira Gandhi State Sports Complex today.

In a dominant display across multiple weight categories, the young athletes secured an impressive tally of medals:

  • Under 27 kg category:

    • Rudranshi Sharma (Class IV),

    • Kavya Sharma (Class V), and

    • Swaranjali (Class III) — Gold Medals

  • Under 30 kg category:

    • Varahi Thakur (Class V) – Gold Medal

    • Rakshita Thakur (Class V) – Gold Medal

    • Yokshita Dogra (Class III) – Bronze Medal

  • Under 38 kg category:

    • Vriddhi Sood (Class IV) – Gold Medal

Coach Ajay Thakur praised the students’ hard work and dedication, emphasizing that all these medal winners are proud representatives of Auckland House School.

The championship, organized by the Grappling Committee of District Shimla, included intense competition across Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories. The event is officially affiliated with the Grappling Committee of India and recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, operating under the aegis of the Indian Wrestling Association.

With participation from across the district, the championship highlighted the growing popularity and competitive spirit surrounding the sport of grappling in the region.
