The 68th Independence Day was celebrated at Auckland House School Girls and Boys School on the 14th August, 2014. The programme commenced with the Flag hoisting by the school Head Girl, followed by the National Anthem. The second half of the programme comprised of two speeches by the Senior Students of Form XII highlighting India’s struggle from freedom.
The latter half of the programme was an amalgamation of patriotic songs, dances and a dance drama showcasing the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. The tiny tots from junior form present a sweet presentation on the song ‘nanna munna rahi hu’ among other. Students of upper primary section presented and amazing drama act on the valour and sacrifice of Captain Vikram Batra which was appreciated by all.
In the Boys School, the students participated in the March Past which was accompanied by a Pipe Band and the flag was unfurled by Principal John followed by a special service for Independence. The Vice School Captain Ayush Goel spoke about the history of Independence Day followed by a short entertainment programme. A combination of skit, dance, poetry recitation, choir and an action song based on Independence were presented by the boys.
The function was attended by Director-Principal Sunita John and Principal Michael John and the staff members. Both the Director Principal and Principal congratulated the boys and the staff for the efforts and hard work put in by them. The programme was a grand success and the students as well as the teachers were unequivocal in their applause.
