Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh launched BIO-NIVESH, a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between biotechnology innovators and private investors to accelerate technology commercialization across India. Addressing startups and venture capitalists during a joint roundtable, the Minister emphasized that innovation and investment are inextricably linked, stating, “Innovation is incomplete without investment, while investment will not sustain itself without innovation.”
Dr. Jitendra Singh warned against India becoming a late entrant in the biotech-driven industrial revolution, urging the sector to adopt a focused “Big Five in Five Years” growth model to build market-leading anchor enterprises. Highlighted under the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Fund, BIRAC will serve as a fund manager to supply patient capital for high-potential deep-tech startups. The inaugural BIO-NIVESH platform convened 20 selected biotech startups and over 50 prominent investors, establishing a recurring national series aimed at expanding regional bio-economies into global enterprises.
