165 Years of Legacy and Excellence

Ranked as the No. 1 legacy boys’ boarding school by EducationWorld, BCS has a proud tradition of incorporating diverse sports into its curriculum. Celebrating 165 years since its establishment in 1859, BCS continues its commitment to character development through sports and teamwork.

Event Opening and March Past

The ceremony began with Sports Captain Sarthak K. lighting the BCS Olympic torch, symbolizing the school’s sportsmanship. A formal march-past followed, honoring the chief guest, a distinguished BCS alumnus and Colonel in the Indian Army, reflecting the school’s deep-rooted traditions.

Remarkable Sports Day Records

According to Mr. Gurprit Singh, Director of Sports at BCS, “This year’s highlights included six new records, showcasing talent from the youngest to the oldest students.” The oldest standing records were set in 2002, making this achievement noteworthy. The chief guest, an alumnus himself, motivated the students with words of encouragement.

Recognition of Excellence

  • Ibbetson House claimed the Overall Sports Award and the Proficiency Cup.
  • The Victor Ludorum Cup, awarded to the day’s champion, went to Mukul S. of Class 8.

Exciting Daredevil Stunts and Gymnastics

The event’s highlight was the breathtaking ‘hoop of fire’ stunt, where Cottonian gymnasts performed daring jumps through a blazing hoop. Months of rigorous training honed the gymnasts’ strength and precision for this thrilling act.

Traditional and Modern Sporting Events

Sports Day events at BCS included a gymnastics showcase, PT drills, house marching competitions, and various track and field events like long jump, high jump, discus, and javelin. The parade, as always, was an impressive display of student teamwork and discipline.

A Tradition of Sports and Physical Fitness

BCS upholds a long-standing tradition of daily physical training (PT) and offers seventeen sports disciplines, from boxing to obstacle courses in the school’s forest. This focus on physical fitness and teamwork remains integral to the school’s heritage.
