The Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that the state is witnessing a serious collapse of law and order along with widespread corruption and administrative failure.

State BJP President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, addressing a public gathering in Palampur, cited the Chester Hill land controversy and the recent killing of a 19-year-old student in Sarkaghat. He said these incidents reflect a growing atmosphere of disorder and insecurity in the state.

He alleged that properties worth crores are being purchased by individuals with modest declared incomes, calling it evidence of large-scale corruption. “Under Congress rule, Himachal has been turned into a marketplace,” he remarked.

Referring to the Sarkaghat case, Bindal termed the incident deeply disturbing and questioned how the accused allegedly remained concealed in a cremation area for days, calling it a failure of both policing and administration.

He further claimed that confusion and blame-shifting among officials have weakened governance, adding that when departments stop working in coordination, the system itself breaks down. He also alleged that organized criminal groups and mafias are operating without fear, while the government has failed to ensure basic security for citizens. According to him, the public is watching the situation closely and will respond politically in due course.

In a separate statement from Dharamshala, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Sharma also criticized the state government, saying Himachal Pradesh is facing an alarming breakdown of law and order.

He accused the administration of being soft on criminal networks, including drug, land, and mining mafias, while placing additional financial burden on citizens through inflation and taxes. Referring to the Sarkaghat murder, he said the incident has triggered widespread anger among the public.

Sharma further alleged that the government’s silence reflects complicity or fear, and questioned its failure to act decisively on serious crimes. He also claimed that corruption allegations among officials being made publicly for the first time point to a deep governance crisis.

He highlighted unemployment as another major concern, saying recruitment in government departments has slowed significantly, leaving youth frustrated and uncertain. He also accused the ruling party of attempting to divide society along caste lines for political gain.
