BJP Slams Youth Congress Over Summit Disruption

BJP Himachal Pradesh President Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday condemned the actions of Youth Congress workers during a recent international AI Summit, describing the protest as an attempt to tarnish India’s global image. Speaking to the media in Nahan, Bindal said organizing a demonstration during a high-level summit attended by diplomats, industry leaders, and policymakers was inappropriate and risked sending a negative message about India at a time when the country is positioning itself as a leader in emerging technologies.

Bindal termed the protest an “irresponsible approach” by the Congress party, suggesting it was aimed more at gaining political attention than addressing concerns through proper democratic channels. He clarified that while political dissent is an essential part of democracy, it should not take forms that could harm the nation’s reputation on global platforms.

The BJP leader also raised concerns over reports that some individuals involved in the incident had stayed at Himachal Sadan in New Delhi. He urged a thorough investigation if any state government facility was misused, directly or indirectly, in connection with the protest. “Himachal Pradesh has a long-standing reputation for patriotism and public service. Any misuse of state infrastructure would be a serious issue and must be examined,” he said.

Referring to past political disagreements over matters related to national security and foreign policy, Bindal alleged a recurring pattern of criticism in such cases. He emphasized that India’s achievements and international engagements should not become tools for partisan contestation that could affect the country’s standing abroad.

Bindal further highlighted that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi promotes India’s interests on global forums, political parties should exercise restraint to ensure domestic disagreements do not overshadow national priorities. He expressed confidence that citizens would support efforts to uphold national dignity and democratic decorum.
