PIB Delhi – Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology of India, Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated the first-ever standalone office of the tech giant Meta (formerly known as Facebook) in Gurugram, Haryana today. On the occasion of the launch, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “PM Narendra Modi’s policies and vision is empowering entrepreneurship and opportunities in India. As a result, tremendous energy is being unleashed in India by the power of entrepreneurship. Technology is catalyzing entrepreneurship and fueling growth of investments and economic growth.
I have always been talking about both entrepreneurship and technology because I believe the two are deeply connected and intersected.” This new office, which is supposed to host the Centre for Fuelling India’s New Economy (C-FINE), will also be dedicated to training and skilling India’s small business owners, creators, entrepreneurs and local communities. He further added, “I hope initiatives like C-FINE, where technology is being positioned to fuel entrepreneurship & innovation and empower youngsters all around the country,taking their dreams & creating critical mass, size & scale with that, is exactly what the power of the internet and technology should be. The reason why I have committed so many years to public life is to see that technology is all about doing good and transforming lives of the people.”
Meta’s office will act as a hub with a dedicated area for demonstrating how technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are going to transform the sectors of education, commerce and healthcare. Commenting on the same, he said, “I believe that there is unprecedented opportunity for us as a nation. The world is being disrupted, and is changing & expanding due to the use of technology.
