Cadets visit Vidhan Sabha, Dharamshala, on Day 7 of HIMTREK

The cadets embarked on an morning trek to the Vidhan Sabha, in Dharamshala marking the seventh day of the HIMTREK program. Accompanied by ANOs, GCIs, and PI Staff, the cadets were welcomed warmly by the Vidhan Sabha officials. They were given an insightful briefing about the history and functioning of the State Legislative Assembly, an experience they found captivating and memorable.

Post the Vidhan Sabha visit, the cadets proceeded to Tapovan where they paid homage at the Ram Mandir and enjoyed the scenic beauty of the surrounding lawns. A medical team was on standby to provide any necessary assistance during the trek.

In the afternoon, the camp culminated with a closing address by the Camp Commandant, followed by a vibrant cultural program. The Chief Guest for the evening was Professor Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh and current Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, renowned for his extensive tenure as a Vice Chancellor. The Guest of Honour was the Principal of GPGC Dharamshala.

The cultural competition showcased the talents of the cadets, with a standout presentation by the cadets of GPGC Dharamshala on the NIAP of Himachal Pradesh. The winners were felicitated by Professor Bansal, who also honored ANOs from various directorates.

The highlight of the evening was the motivational speech by Professor Bansal. He shared the inspiring story of the great scientist Thomas Edison, emphasizing how Edison’s mother played a pivotal role in his success. This story served to motivate the cadets, reinforcing the importance of perseverance, strong character, and parental support in achieving greatness.

Professor Bansal underscored the significance of national integration and encouraged the cadets to embrace it wholeheartedly. He expressed his admiration for Camp Commandant Colonel Sanjay Shandil, praising his organizational skills and strong character. Prof. Bansal urged the cadets to look up to Colonel Shandil as a role model, emphasizing that they could learn valuable life lessons from his example.

The  program concluded on a high note with the cadets feeling motivated and inspired by the words of Professor Bansal and the exemplary leadership of Colonel Sanjay Shandil. The experiences and lessons learned during this trek will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the cadets, shaping them into responsible and dedicated citizens.
