ECI Chalet Day Students Receive Cash Prize from Minister

Keekli Reporter, 27th September, 2013, Shimla

The ECI Chalet Day students gave a brilliant and heartwarming performance during their Annual Concert – 2013 at the Kali Bhari Hall, Shimla and received quite a few cheers and loud claps from the audience. The Chief Guest, Minister for Justice, Empowerment and Sainik Welfare, Dhani Ram Shandil too was so mesmerized by the whole programme that he announced a cash prize of Rs 11,000/- for the children while commending their performance.

In a short time frame of two hours the school Principal, V Rathore and the Teaching staff had packed quite a few events ensuring that every child got a chance to perform on the stage. The programme began with a blessing hymn followed by the Vandana Ardhana. Soon the tiny tots of classes Nursery and KG took the stage and gave a vibrant dance presentation. Classes I and II showed us the colours of our country as students were dressed in pairs showcasing the culture and heritage of each state.

Students of Classes III and IV danced on a classic number Sayo Naara, all dressed up in Japanese dresses giving a feel of Japan, which was then followed by a song Give Me oil in My Lamp. Senior students then took the stage and gave a dazzling performance be enacting an English play title Beauty’s Beauty. A moral based play wherein a clear message was sent to all that beauty lies within and it is not just an outward appearance. Your deeds and actions make you beautiful and not just your clothes and makeup or how beautiful and pretty you may look.

The stage was set ablaze by an awesome western dance number with robotic as well as acrobatic moves which was just breathtaking. The audience too couldn’t control their emotions as loud whistles and applauds were heard throughout the hall. After a sweet song performance by the children, the junior section took over the stage enacting a Hindi play Bitiya ki Shadi. The emphasis here too was clear that girls should be treated as equals and they to deserve the chance to choose their own life partner. The role of the girls’ father was played by Abhinav Sharma who did a fantastic job as the Chief Guest too was enticed by his performance and gave him a cash reward as an encouragement to the child to further continue excelling on the stage and in his future life.

The students then did a great classical dance number which was followed by a hymn and after which the Chief Guest took the stage for prize distribution. In his speech the Minister thanked the school for inviting him for this beautiful function and complimented the Principal, V Rathore and her staff for presenting a well rehearsed, well performed and calibrated show depicting the art and culture as well as the setup of our society. He said while quoting Aristotle, “Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity”, and added “The roots of the tree may be bitter as during our course of journey we share and feel many emotions but the fruits borne are always sweet. I am amazed to see the confidence of these children up on the stage and to create a strong nation it is necessary for both the teachers and parents to work in tandem to achieve this common goal, that is the best education as well as all round development through such interactive programmes”. The Minister ended on the note that children should avoid drugs and they should be educated about the evils of drugs.

Principal, V Rathore expressed her gratitude and thanked all her staff in making the Annual Concert a huge success.
