Chandigarh Golf Association Honours Golfer — Aadil Bedi

Young city teenager golfer Aadil Bedi was honored with a scholarship and reimbursements of his travel and training expenses worth rupees one lakh for finishing in number one position in the national merit last year in the 11-12 year category by Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) Senior Vice President and IGU Council Member, CSR Reddy (IPS). The honour was given in token of brilliant performance shown by this teenager’s sensation golf wins last year in national circuit. He won two national finals played last year, shooting almost level par scores at BPGC Mumbai and Coimbatore. CRS Reddy said, “Aadil is not only promoting golf across the country but also proving as inspiration for youngsters especially from Chandigarh”.

Aadil has shown precocious ability to play an eclectic selection on different Indian golf courses with great aplomb. His average scores have consistently been in the low-70s underlining his immense potential even at this tender age. This teenage golfing sensations proved that not only were they talented when representing their clubs, but had they also had the strength to remain resilient even when the chips were down while playing against elder and more experienced players.

As he has now just moved to the B Category (13-15 years) this year, he made his presence felt with two runner up positions and two fourth positions. With the best seven matches count for IGU national merit, he is due to play in two major matches — Western India and All India — in the coming months. At present Aadil has played just seven matches and accumulated 221 points in his kitty, which has placed him comfortably in the four members Indian squad. With this induction he will now have a chance to represent India in the forthcoming International events. This has also entitled him for monthly scholarship from the IGU office, New Delhi along with free technical and fitness training.

Visibly happy, Aadil says, “Special athletic training programmes include work on kinesthetic senses, motor qualities and speed training with Gurmeet Singh, Former Director Sports, Punjab University, who will help me to compete against bigger boys in the national circuit. I am quite excited and elated as now I can represent my country and will work harder to achieve my dreams”.
