CM Sukhu has directed the Education Department to introduce Moral Science starting from Class I in government schools, aiming to instill ethical values, discipline, compassion, and respect for elders in children from an early age. Emphasizing that true education goes beyond academic excellence, the Chief Minister noted that character-building must remain a central pillar of student development.
During a high-level review meeting with senior department officials, the CM evaluated the ongoing rollout of the CBSE curriculum across government institutions. To ensure smooth operations and a healthy learning environment, he called for accelerated recruitment, directing authorities to fast-track the deployment of 600 Junior Basic Teacher (JBT) posts for CBSE schools and provide adequate staff for 100 new schools.
The review also covered staffing needs for ministerial and Class-IV employees in CBSE-affiliated institutions, alongside broader initiatives like filling 3,900 teaching and 900 non-teaching posts under the New Scheme Based Recruitment. Highlighting the state’s focus on systemic reform, CM Sukhu reiterated that the government is fully committed to elevating public education standards through robust monitoring, accountability, and timely execution of policy decisions.
