With monsoon season underway, cities across India have intensified cleanliness and health initiatives as part of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ (MoHUA) Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao 2025 campaign running from July 1 to July 31. Urban local bodies are actively working to prevent monsoon-related diseases by unclogging drains, clearing garbage hotspots, promoting hand hygiene, and raising awareness in vulnerable areas such as slums, schools, and marketplaces.
Innovations like Patna’s ‘Manhole Ambulances’ are enhancing quick repairs during rains, while Delhi’s Municipal Corporation has organized large-scale hygiene drives including a ‘Pinkathon’ walk led by NCC cadets and sanitation efforts across schools and public toilets. Navi Mumbai held rallies and health camps targeting malaria and dengue prevention, reaching thousands of citizens. Telangana focused on waste segregation, desilting over 14,000 km of drains, sanitizing homes, and clearing roadside bushes.
Similar efforts in Chhattisgarh and Raipur emphasize community training, awareness, and cleanliness drives. The campaign unites India’s urban centers in a strong push for improved sanitation and disease prevention during the monsoon season.
