Under the leadership of CM Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh government has intensified its multi-dimensional war on chitta, moving decisively to dismantle trafficking networks, seize illegal wealth, and support recovering individuals. Reinforcing its zero-tolerance pledge, the state has registered 5,642 cases and arrested over 8,250 individuals over three years—including disciplinary action against 139 government employees. To attack the financial roots of organised crime, authorities have frozen properties worth over ₹91.24 crore across various districts alongside major confiscations under the PIT-NDPS Act.
This enforcement push is backed by strong legislative reforms passed in 2025 to curb organized crime and improve prevention. To involve the public directly, the government launched the Chitta Information Reward Scheme, providing substantial cash rewards for confidential tips via helpline 112. Beyond policing, Himachal Pradesh is prioritizing prevention and holistic healing: youth are encouraged toward sports via the Khelo Himachal campaign, while treatment capacity expands through modern facilities like the Nav-Jeevan center for women in Mashobra and upcoming care hubs in Tanda and Sirmaur.
