The joy of innocence and a delightful dose of cuteness filled the corridors of Delhi Public School (DPS), Shimla, as little children proudly led their parents through the school’s Art, Craft, Science and Mathematics Exhibition during Carnival of Joy on Sunday. With eager voices and sparkling eyes, the young exhibitors explained their artwork, demonstrated their models and enthusiastically shared what they had learnt, turning the exhibition into a heartwarming celebration of childhood and discovery.

From explaining the process of rainfall to demonstrating how shapes help in understanding mathematics and how the concept of time works, the children brought classroom learning to life through their creations. The excitement was palpable as parents moved from one exhibit to another, listening to their little ones explain each process with remarkable confidence and infectious enthusiasm. For the children, the opportunity to become teachers for a day was priceless; for their parents, it was a moment of pride to witness their curiosity, creativity and growing understanding of the world around them.

Combining the school exhibition with a carnival was an innovative way to make learning more engaging while bringing together education, entertainment and community participation. The campus buzzed with activity as families enjoyed food stalls, music, games, entertainment and face painting, creating a lively atmosphere where learning and leisure blended seamlessly.

Ms Diviya Kumari, cultural activist from Jubbal and owner of Woodville Palace, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr Anil Walia, Pro Vice-Chairperson, DPS Shimla, and Ms Veena Chauhan, Headmistress, guided the event, reflecting the school’s emphasis on holistic education, experiential learning and the development of confident, creative and socially responsible individuals.

Adding warmth and purpose to the festivities was the participation of women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs), which set up stalls showcasing their products. The initiative provided the women with an opportunity to promote their work, reach potential customers and strengthen their entrepreneurial journeys. Their presence also introduced young students and families to the value of local enterprise, self-reliance and women’s economic empowerment.

The participation of ABHI School for Special Children brought an equally meaningful dimension to the carnival. Its stall displayed candles and other handcrafted products made by its students, inviting visitors to appreciate their creativity and support their efforts through purchases. The inclusion of ABHI alongside other participants reinforced the message that every individual deserves recognition, dignity and opportunities to showcase their abilities.

By bringing together children, parents, women entrepreneurs and young creators with special needs, Carnival of Joy became much more than a school fête. It offered a glimpse of education in its most meaningful form—where children learn by doing, families celebrate their achievements, women find avenues to grow, and inclusion becomes a lived experience rather than merely an idea.

The celebration concluded on a cheerful note, leaving behind memories of proud little exhibitors, delighted parents and a community brought together by creativity and compassion. At DPS Shimla, the day served as a reminder that some of the greatest joys of education lie in watching children discover their potential, find the confidence to express themselves and learn that there is a place for everyone to shine.
