Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Board through its Regional Office Shimla and Regional Laboratory Shimla conducted cleanliness drive in the catchment of Ashwani Polluted River Stretch of Shimla 14.08.2021 in association 250 volunteers from Healing Himalayas, Shoolini University, Home Guard, SJPNL, MC Slaughter House, M/s Elephant Energy, Oberoi Group (Cecil and Wild Flower Hall), Hotel Radison Jas group, Hotelier association, BDO Mashobra and MC Shimla.
The drives were conducted at three locations 1) Lift Nallah (starting from lift to Lalpani bridge) 2) National Highway (Tutikandi to Panthaghati) and 3) Ashwani Khad (Gram Panchayat Pujarli and Rajhana) as part of the cleanliness campaign inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh for the period 9-15 August to commemorate the 75th year of Independence.
Approximately 3.5 MT of Solid Waste was collected by the participants from Lift Nallah at Combermere, Lift Nallah at Slaughter house MC shimla, NH-5 from Tutikandi to Panthaghati, and Ashwani Khadd. Apoorv Devgan, Member Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board administered the oath to the participants and led his team into the Lift Nalla and collected above 3.5 metric tonnes of waste all along. Subsequently collected waste were sent to sanitary landfill site at Bharyal.
