Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today announced the upgradation of Barsar Hospital to a 100-bed facility, further strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Hamirpur district. Addressing a large public gathering at Barsar, the Chief Minister also dedicated the ₹17.45 crore Mini Secretariat to the public and highlighted the government’s commitment to balanced development across all regions.

He said that ₹96 crore is being spent on road strengthening in Barsar constituency and ₹65 crore has been sanctioned for the beautification of Baba Balak Nath Temple and its surrounding areas. The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of an indoor stadium and parking facility at Barsar, the introduction of MA and M.Com classes at the local government college, and the installation of solar and high mast lights in various panchayats and market areas.

The Chief Minister informed that ₹300 crore is being spent on the Cancer Institute at Hamirpur Medical College, and ₹100 crore will be utilized to create seven special departments there. He said that the previous government neglected such projects, but the present government is ensuring timely completion and proper funding.

Criticizing the former BJP government, the CM said it opened hundreds of institutions without adequate staff or resources, leading to poor quality of education. He added that with the current government’s reforms, Himachal Pradesh has improved its position to 5th rank in the national education report (ASER).

Highlighting financial reforms, Sukhu said that the auction of liquor vends generated ₹450 crore in additional revenue, while ₹3000 crore was saved by curbing corruption. These funds are now being used for welfare schemes such as support for widows, orphans, and children.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development, irrespective of political affiliations, and urged all MPs from Himachal to help secure the ₹1500 crore disaster relief package announced by the Prime Minister.

He further stated that the government is investing ₹3000 crore to upgrade the state’s healthcare services under the ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’ initiative. Modern equipment is being installed in hospitals, and six specialist doctors will soon be appointed in each model health institution across the state.

On the welfare front, Sukhu highlighted several initiatives including the ‘Sukh Shiksha Yojna’ for free education and healthcare to over 23,000 children of widows, divorced, and disabled women, and adoption of orphans as “Children of the State,” ensuring government care until the age of 27.

The CM also mentioned the government’s focus on boosting the rural economy, announcing increased MSP for maize, wheat, turmeric, and milk, to support farmers and cattle rearers involved in natural farming.

Earlier, the Chief Minister received a warm welcome upon his arrival at Barsar. Several organizations and individuals, including local administrative officials, educational institutions, and social groups, contributed generously to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, collectively donating several lakhs of rupees.
