CM Sukhu has commended the Public Works Department (PWD) for achieving a major milestone by integrating 100 of its offices into the e-Office platform as part of the State Government’s ongoing digital governance reforms.

The Chief Minister praised the department’s officers and staff for their commitment and efficiency in completing the digital transition within the stipulated timeframe. He noted that the movement of files—from the office of the Engineer-in-Chief to the Secretary, PWD Minister, and up to his own office—is now fully processed through the e-Office system. Internal communication within the department has also shifted to official emails, replacing physical correspondence that previously led to delays.

Highlighting the benefits of the reform, the Chief Minister said the e-Office system has ensured faster disposal of work, enhanced transparency in file handling, real-time visibility of pending cases, and simplified monitoring and retrieval of records. He added that digitisation at the field level is often challenging, yet the PWD has successfully extended e-Office operations up to the Executive Engineer (XEN) level—marking a significant step toward accountable, technology-driven governance.

PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh described the digital transformation as a “historic milestone” that has made the department more transparent, efficient, and responsive. He credited the Chief Minister’s guidance and vision for enabling the department to achieve the digitisation target within the set deadline.

Secretary (PWD) Dr. Abhishek Jain informed that 100 offices have begun functioning on the e-Office platform. These include the office of the Engineer-in-Chief, five Chief Engineer (Zone) offices, 19 Circle offices led by Superintending Engineers, and 58 Division offices headed by Executive Engineers. Additionally, two Circle and five Division offices under the Electrical Wing, two Circle and four Division offices under the Mechanical Wing, as well as the Chief Architect Office in Shimla, Architect Offices in Mandi and Dharamshala, and one Horticulture Division have also been brought online.
