Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday dedicated a series of major development projects worth approximately ₹110 crore to the people of Bilaspur district during his one-day visit, reinforcing the State government’s focus on strengthening urban infrastructure, public safety and civic amenities.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a comprehensive sewerage scheme for Bilaspur town, to be executed at an estimated cost of ₹93.30 crore. The project is expected to significantly improve sanitation facilities and address long-standing issues related to wastewater management, contributing to better public health and environmental sustainability in the town.
He also laid the foundation stone for the construction of staff quarters at the Police Lines in Bilaspur, to be built at a cost of ₹12.23 crore. The project aims to improve residential facilities for police personnel and enhance their overall working conditions.
In addition, Sh. Sukhu inaugurated the CCTV Matrix DMFT (Netrum Surveillance and Crime Response Centre) for Bilaspur and Ghumarwin areas. Set up under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) at a cost of ₹4.38 crore, the centre is expected to strengthen surveillance, improve crime response mechanisms and enhance public safety across the region.
The Chief Minister said these projects would play a key role in accelerating Bilaspur’s development, improving quality of life for residents and ensuring better governance through modern infrastructure and technology-driven solutions.
