Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inspected the under-construction heliport at Jaskot in Hamirpur district, being developed at a cost of Rs. 18 crore. He directed officials to expedite the work and ensure that the heliport is completed by May this year.
Emphasizing the State Government’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector, the Chief Minister said that improving connectivity and infrastructure remains a key priority. He stated that enhanced air connectivity would boost tourism, strengthen the state’s economy and create employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth.
He informed that heliports are being constructed at all district headquarters and major tourist destinations across Himachal Pradesh. Recently, helicopter services were launched from Sanjauli heliport to Chandigarh and Reckong Peo to facilitate convenient travel for tourists. Services on the Sanjauli–Rampur–Reckong Peo and Sanjauli–Manali (SASE Helipad) routes are also expected to commence shortly, further improving regional air connectivity.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction Hamirpur Bus Stand project, being developed at a cost of Rs. 123 crore. Expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, he said both projects are progressing steadily and are expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, significantly enhancing infrastructure and public convenience in the district.
