CM Sukhu today handed over appointment letters to 312 newly selected drawing teachers at a ceremony in Shimla. The teachers will serve in various schools across the state. On the same occasion, he also gave a send-off to five government school students embarking on an educational tour to Japan, where they will visit academic institutions and historical sites.
During the event, the Chief Minister launched several educational initiatives including the student-focused news platform edsk Express, a Baseline School Ranking Accreditation Report, the Geo-tagged and Geo-fenced Smart ‘Upsthiti’ attendance monitoring system, and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra.
CM Sukhu praised the progress made in education, noting that Himachal Pradesh’s national ranking in quality education has improved from 21st to 5th in just over two years. He revealed that the government is considering policies to prevent teacher retirements mid-academic session to avoid disruptions in students’ learning.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to education reforms, highlighting the appointment of over 5,100 Trained Graduate Teachers and efforts to balance student-teacher ratios. He also emphasized transparency in recruitment following past irregularities and reaffirmed that 312 drawing teachers received appointment letters today.
On pensions, CM Sukhu stated there would be no rollback of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), ensuring dignified post-retirement lives for government employees. He also clarified that Job Trainees will be regularized after two years of service, dismissing opposition misinformation.
The event was attended by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Directors of Higher and School Education, and other officials. The Chief Minister also spoke on government initiatives in health, rural economy, tourism, and water resource rights, underlining a broad agenda for development.
