CM Sukhu Highlights New Age Courses in AI and Data Storage for Youth Empowerment

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the educational landscape of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu revealed that the state government is contemplating the introduction of a B.Ed. course immediately after 12th grade. Speaking at the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, the CM emphasized the importance of preparing students for the challenges of the future. The introduction of this course is part of the state government’s commitment to equip youth with future-ready skills.

Future-Ready Courses to Empower Himachal’s Youth

During his speech, CM Sukhu highlighted the state’s initiative to introduce modern-age courses such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Storage, ensuring students are well-prepared for the rapidly evolving job market. “We are dedicated to providing young minds with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the digital age,” said Sukhu.

Women’s Empowerment in Himachal: The State Leads with Progressive Reforms

The Chief Minister also reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment. He proudly announced that Himachal Pradesh is the first state in India to raise the marriage age for girls to 21 years, a significant step toward gender equality and social progress.

Stronger Measures to Combat Drug Abuse in Himachal Pradesh

Addressing the ongoing menace of drug abuse, CM Sukhu unveiled an extensive anti-drug campaign across the state. He reassured the public that the government would take stronger measures to curb drug addiction and protect youth from falling into its grip. Additionally, the government is promoting sports to provide a healthy alternative for the youth, alongside increased prize money for international competitions and raised diet allowances for players.

New Benefits for Athletes: Diet Money and Travel Assistance Increased

In a move to support athletes, CM Sukhu announced an increase in diet allowances for state and national-level competitions. For Under-14 players, the diet money for state-level competitions has increased from Rs. 120 to Rs. 250, and for national events, it has risen from Rs. 250 to Rs. 400. Similarly, Under-17 and Under-19 players will now receive Rs. 400 for state-level competitions and Rs. 500 for national-level events. In addition, the government will provide AC three-tier rail travel and economy-class airfare for players traveling for competitions outside the state.

Transforming Education and Healthcare in Himachal Pradesh

CM Sukhu also outlined the government’s ambitious plans for educational reforms, including the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools in every assembly constituency. These schools will focus on both academics and personality development, offering nutritious meals to students. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to send government school students for exposure visits abroad to countries like Singapore and Cambodia, allowing them to experience global educational standards.

In the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister announced a budget of Rs. 1,800 crore to modernize medical colleges and hospitals with state-of-the-art technology and advanced medical equipment. This move aims to improve healthcare services and reduce delays caused by outdated machinery.

Himachal Pradesh’s Vision for Green Energy and Climate Change Mitigation

Addressing climate change, CM Sukhu emphasized the urgency of taking measures to mitigate its effects. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the state during the severe natural calamities in 2023, which affected over 23,000 families. However, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a Green Energy State, preserving its rich natural and cultural heritage.

CM Sukhu’s Student Journey: From Class Representative to Chief Minister

Reflecting on his own journey, CM Sukhu shared his personal experiences from his student days. He reminisced about visiting St. Bede’s College 40 years ago for a debate competition and recalled how his early involvement in student leadership paved the way for his future political career.
