Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched an extensive election campaign in Assam today, rallying support for Indian National Congress candidates in the Jaleswar and Senga Assembly constituencies. Addressing the public, he claimed that Assam was ready for change after a decade of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule, and appealed to voters to ensure Congress’s victory.

Sukhu sharply criticized the BJP government, accusing it of widespread corruption and mismanagement of the state’s resources over the past ten years. He promised that a Congress government would thoroughly investigate all corruption cases and hold the guilty accountable. He further stated that Assam has lagged in development and suffered economic setbacks under the BJP.

On the issue of the controversial death of singer Zubeen Garg, Sukhu expressed that the people of Assam remained dissatisfied with the progress of the investigation. He assured that justice would be delivered within 100 days if Congress comes to power.

The Chief Minister contrasted Congress’s approach with that of the BJP, stating that Congress works for the nation while BJP politics relies on religion and caste. Highlighting the party’s manifesto, he announced a Rs. 50,000 financial boost for women starting businesses, a monthly pension of Rs. 1,250 for senior citizens, and cashless healthcare coverage of up to Rs. 25 lakh for every family.

Concluding his address, Sukhu reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to keeping its promises and said the party would continue to work toward the holistic development of Assam.
