CM Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects totaling ₹75.10 crore in the Gagret Assembly Constituency. Addressing a public meeting at Daulatpur Chowk in Una district, he launched a sharp attack on the previous BJP government, blaming it for pushing Himachal Pradesh into financial distress due to unplanned borrowing and populist policies.
The Chief Minister emphasized his government’s commitment to restoring the state’s economy through tough but necessary decisions. He announced additional funding for Daulatpur-Bhadrakali Road and the remaining construction of Gagret Hospital. He also confirmed that vacant doctor positions at health centres in Daulatpur and Gagret will soon be filled.
He highlighted major upcoming infrastructure works including:
-
A ₹42.82 crore 400-meter span bridge over Swan River under PMGSY-III
-
Construction of four new bridges worth ₹2.70 crore
-
A new bridge over Jadla Khad costing ₹3.59 crore
-
Roadwork and college infrastructure development worth several crores
In the water sector, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several drinking water and tube-well schemes totaling over ₹17 crore across Shivpur, Banne-di-Hatti, Gondpur Banehra, Nakroh, Amlehar, and other areas. The projects are aimed at addressing water scarcity and improving irrigation in the region.
The CM also criticized the BJP’s tenure for downgrading the state’s educational standards and opening 600 unplanned schools and health institutions before the 2022 elections. He said this led to a deterioration in government school enrollments and a drop in Himachal’s education ranking from top-tier to 21st position nationwide.
Sukhu praised Una’s emergence as the first fully solar-powered district in the state, with completed and ongoing solar projects worth ₹500 crore and a combined capacity of nearly 200 MW. He noted that the region is poised to become a major power supplier to other districts.
He reaffirmed the upcoming Bulk Drug Park in Haroli will generate thousands of jobs and boost Una’s industrial potential.
Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, also present, stated that ₹170 crore has been invested in Gagret’s water supply systems. He criticized the Centre for releasing only ₹137 crore out of the ₹2,000 crore promised to the state under water schemes.
Local MLA Rakesh Kalia thanked the CM for his continued support and urged swift funding for Gagret hospital, local infrastructure, and land acquisition for power substations.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, MLA Sudarshan Babloo, SC Commission Chairman Kuldeep Kumar, and senior Congress and district officials.
