CM Sukhu, during his visit to Sarkaghat constituency on Wednesday, announced key development initiatives aimed at improving education and sports facilities in the region. He also reviewed the damage caused by recent heavy rains and instructed the Deputy Commissioner to assess losses and ensure timely relief to affected families.
While visiting the Girls’ Sports Hostel in Sarkaghat, the Chief Minister interacted with athletes and assured them of enhanced facilities and support. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting talent at the grassroots level.
In a significant announcement, CM Sukhu said a CBSE-affiliated school will soon be established in Sarkaghat to offer better academic opportunities for local students.
Highlighting new reforms in support of student-athletes, the Chief Minister declared that participants in national and international-level competitions will now be marked as being on ‘special leave’ instead of absent—mirroring the provisions used for School Games Federation of India (SGFI) events. Directions regarding this change have already been shared with teaching staff across the state.
Congress leader Pawan Thakur and area residents extended a warm welcome to the Chief Minister upon his arrival. Local MLA Chander Shekhar and other dignitaries were also present during the visit.
