Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, while presiding over the State Executive meeting of Youth Congress held at Rajiv Bhawan, Shimla today, said that there is no such party in the country whose two Prime Ministers made the supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that whenever attempts were made to attack the ideology of the Congress party, the party became stronger. Recalling his Youth Congress days, Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that I also came out of student politics and moved forward step by step.
He said that he had never imagined that he would reach the post of Chief Minister, for which he thanked the ideology of the Congress Party. He said that this ideology strengthened the roots of democracy. He said that after independence, the thinking of the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru showed the direction of making India self-reliant. Whereas the foundation of modern India was laid by former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi and brought communication revolution in the country. This is the reason why today the CEOs of 30 big IT companies of the world are Indians.
He said that Congress party governments started IITs, IIMs and AIIMS in the country. He said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi believed that a society which does not respect women cannot develop. Therefore, for the empowerment of women, through 73rd and 74th amendment, they were given 33 percent reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions. Along with this, Rajiv Gandhi’s thinking also gave him the right to choose his own government at the age of 18. At the same time, Manmohan government also gave 50 percent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj institutions.
Appealing to the youth to come forward in politics, he said that they should set their goals and accept the challenges and move forward. He said that the state government is taking tough decisions to secure the future of the youth. He said that without the help of the Central Government, the present State Government issued a special relief package of Rs 4500 crore to the disaster affected people and increased the compensation for the completely damaged from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
He said that the state government implemented the old pension scheme in the very first cabinet meeting, so that the employees could get social security in old age. He expressed gratitude to the cabinet members, Youth Congress members and all the people for all possible cooperation during the disaster in the state.
He said that due to public support, the largest donation of Rs 250 crore in history was collected. Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is organizing Revenue Lok Adalats in the last two days of every month to settle the pending revenue cases. In this, more than 65000 pending cases of Intkaal and more than four thousand of Taksim have been settled so far. He said that for the first time a government is making serious efforts in this direction. He said that during the tenure of the previous government in Staff Selection Commission Hamirpur, the future of the youth was played with and papers were sold.
Congress Ideology And Contributions To India’s Progress
Attacking corruption, the present state government has dissolved the Staff Selection Commission and constituted the State Selection Commission in its place, in which the recruitment process will be ensured in a transparent manner. He said that the state government is going to make 21,000 recruitments in various government departments.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that for good governance, good administration is necessary. Breaking tradition, he visited Tutikandi Balika Ashram after taking oath as Chief Minister. He understood the plight of the residents and made the country’s first law for the care of orphan children, under which all orphan children were given the status of ‘Children of the State’, under which the state government is responsible for their complete care.
He said that under the Chief Minister Sukhashraya Yojana, the present state government is giving Rs 2500 per month to orphan children up to 18 years of age and Rs 4 thousand per month to children up to 27 years as pocket money. Along with providing financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for their marriage and starting a start-up, land will be made available to build a house and other facilities including financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh are also being provided.
The Chief Minister honored all the women workers of Youth Congress who got third position in ‘Super Shakti She’. Along with this, he also released various posters under the door-to-door campaign of Youth Congress. National in-charge of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress, Krishna Allavaru said that the government and organizations in the state are working in coordination and the workers have been assigned appropriate responsibilities for public service.
He said that central government elections are contested by institutions like ED, CBI and Income Tax. Alleging rigging in the Chandigarh Mayor elections, he said that if this is the situation in the Mayor elections, then the situation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections cannot even be imagined. He said that BJP is expert in spreading lies. The public will decide the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and there is no need to be afraid of BJP’s propaganda. Youth Congress workers will present their views strongly at every booth. He said that the state government in Himachal Pradesh has done better work in the last one year and this report card will be placed before the people.
Whereas ten years ago BJP had promised 20 crore jobs but Modi government has failed to provide employment. Modi government has failed in providing justice to daughters, providing good education, giving rights to workers, saving democracy and improving the economic condition of farmers. Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress President Nigam Bhandari praised Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for his better work in the disaster. He said that the Chief Minister has assigned appropriate responsibilities in the state government to the Youth Congress workers. He said that Youth Congress workers are working to take the policies of the state government to every home.
He said that the Youth Congress, during the tenure of the previous BJP government, conveyed its anti-people policies to the public and showed the way out to the BJP. He said that Youth Congress workers will work hard day and night in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections also. State Vice President of Youth Congress Jaivardhan Khurana gave detailed information about the work of Youth Congress. He said that Youth Congress has started a campaign to connect five workers at each booth of Himachal Pradesh under the Youth Jodo programme.
A target has been set to convey the achievements of the Himachal Pradesh government to one and a half lakh people in the next 90 days. Apart from this, street plays are being organized in Kangra, Mandi and Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituencies under Agniveer Yojana. On this occasion, MLAs Ajay Solanki, Ravi Thakur and Bhuvaneshwar Gaur, OSD to Chief Minister Ritesh Kapret, HPSIDC Vice President Vishal Chambiyal, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Devendra Bushahri and other officials were present.
