Bishop Cotton School, Shimla held their Art and Craft Exhibition through which the little craftsmen showcased their paintings and craft items for parents and guests, which gave them immense pleasure. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Headmaster of the School, Christopher Robinson in the morning, while the chief guest for the event was B.M. Singh, former Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes of India. On his arrival the ceremonial lightning of the lamp took place after which he walked around the halls and classes appreciating the artwork and items prepared by the children.
“Each child has a spark in him/her. It is the responsibility of the people and institutions around each child to find what would ignite that spark”, a famous quote by Howard Gardner, is truly understood by the faculty at Bishop Cotton School, who believe in unleashing the imagination of students in order to build up their vision and creativity.
Exhibits varied from paintings in different media to pottery, thermocol art, clay modelling and moulding, coffee painting and embroidery. Along with fun craft work exhibits on some important topics such as “Uses of Plants”, “Culture and Heritage of India” and “Conservation of Water” were beautifully displayed for everyone to view and of course learn a few new things.
Stalls of tasty and delicious recipes such as Corn Bhel were also put up by the students the Home Science Department. The kiddies of JuniorSchool and the staff worked very hard under the guidance of their headmistress Dorothy Robinson to make the exhibition a success.
Some impressive sketches and paintings by the senior students were also exhibited under the supervision of their art teacher Danny Balbir Singh. All parents appreciated the quality of paintings and craft items and were very happy to see the hard work of their children.
The chief guest was glad to see such immense talent and said, “Such exhibition plays a very important role in shaping a child’s future along with academics”. His appreciative and encouraging words were quite motivational for the students to perform even better next year.
