March Past Trophy won by Lefroy House; Curzon and Ibbetson House were runners up. Major achievement was that three old school records were broken in Athletics — Gaurav Mangla, Gaurav Prasad and Prakriti Tyagi were the proud record holders in High Jump and Broad Jump respectively. Overall Best House Trophy lifted by Curzon House.
Students of Bishop Cotton School celebrated their Annual Sports Day here today as Zahoor Zaidi, I.G. Police Communication presided as the chief guest. The batch of Old Cottonions of 1988 was also present on the occasion as special guests. The sports day began with a welcome speech by the students followed by hoisting of the flag, after which the chief guest took the guard of honour, followed by the lightning of torch by the School Captain. Then Mr Zahoor declared the sports meet open.
The track and field events started with the 100 metres race, followed by many events such as the Inter-House relays, 200 meters Race, various PT Drills, acrobatic gymnastic display and much more.
Parents turned up in large number to witness their children participate in different sporting events. Talking to Mrs Sharma praising the brilliant march past by the students, she said, “I am very delighted to see the synchronization of boys during the march past”. Another parent, Mr Chadha, enthusiastically waiting for his son’s race said, “I am eagerly waiting for my son’s race. He is a very good athlete and I hope that he wins this year as well”. Mrs Dhiman while enjoying the events said, “Emphasis on sports activities by the students according to their potential and skills is very important”.
Various events such as the Broad Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump had already taken place a day before and the winners were given prizes by the chief guest at the end of the event. The winners in different categories were as follows:

Headmaster Robinson thanked the chief guest for his presence and spoke about the importance of sports, “I thank Mr Zahoor for being here with us today. Sports play a vital role in making a child sound physically as well as mentally. Sports helps’ in developing the kinaesthetic skill like special intelligence, logistic intelligence and intra-structural potentialities in students”.
The event concluded with the Chief Guest speech who said, “Today is a day when students are free from classroom to jump and run around, freed from the satire of learning. It is a day for mothers to wear their best and fathers to cheer on their sons. It is a day when children who may struggle with academic subjects show that they can run faster and jump higher than anyone else”.
A mega event which culminated with the award ceremony !!!
