In a major administrative move aimed at decongesting Shimla and implementing a key budget announcement of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Directorate of Communication and Technical Services (C&TS) of Himachal Pradesh Police has been relocated from Shimla to Hamirpur. The directorate has officially started full-scale operations from its new premises in Hamirpur. The relocation is part of the state government’s broader strategy of administrative decentralisation and balanced regional development. Officials stated that shifting the technical and communication wing closer to field units will significantly improve coordination, operational efficiency, and responsiveness across districts. The move is also expected to strengthen real-time technical support and streamline policing services throughout the state. With this transition, the government aims to enhance decision-making speed and improve overall service delivery within the police framework, marking a step towards a more decentralised administrative structure in Himachal Pradesh.
