A four-day Dastangoi Festival is being held at the Gaiety Theatre, Shimla from June 27 to June 30, 2024. Renowned Dastango Mahmood Farooqui and his team will be performing five Dastaans during the Festival. It will start at 5.30 PM daily.
Dastangoi is a 13th century Urdu story- telling art form. It was revived in 2005 by historian, author and Director Mahmood Farooqui.
At the centre of the Dastangoi is the Dastango, or story-teller, whose voice is his main artistic tool in orally creating the dastaan or the story. A premiere of Dastan-e-Raj Kapoor will be held on June 28.
