National Capital Territory of Delhi Releases Extended Holiday Schedule, Impacting Government Offices, Private Institutions, and Commercial Establishments. In a recent development, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has declared a series of public holidays that will span from 8th to 10th September 2023. This announcement comes as a part of the region’s holiday calendar for the upcoming month.

Key Highlights:

Government Offices: On 8th September, 2023 (Friday), a public holiday will be observed in government offices where Saturday and Sunday are designated as public holidays. This will be followed by public holidays on 9th and 10th September (Saturday and Sunday), completing the extended weekend.

Private Offices and Educational Institutions: For private offices, educational institutions, and other establishments within the National Capital Territory, the public holidays will vary based on the weekend structure. Offices with Sunday as a public holiday will be closed on 8th and 9th September (Friday and Saturday), with a public holiday on 10th September (Sunday).

Commercial Banks and Financial Institutions: Commercial banks and financial institutions under the purview of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, situated within the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Police District, will have a public holiday on 8th and 9th September (Friday and Saturday). Additionally, those where Sunday isn’t a public holiday will be closed on 10th September (Sunday).

Closure of Shops and Establishments: According to Section 16 (3) (i) of The Delhi Shops and Establishments Act, 1954, all shops and commercial establishments within the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Police District (as shown on the attached map) will remain closed from 8th to 10th September 2023.
