Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) with the support for Department of Energy (DoE) under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India is preparing short and long term (till 2030) State Energy Efficiency Action Plan for Himachal Pradesh. The first Stakeholders workshop for the same was organized today at the Department of Energy, Himachal Pradesh. While inaugurating the workshop, Harikesh Meena, Director (Energy) suggested that the action plan should find the areas in which all the stakeholder departments were working and have initiated for implementing energy efficiency. Discussion points for this workshop were, such as Proper implementation of Swaran Jayanti Energy Policy, 2021.

Himachal Pradesh Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, Successful implementation of PAT Scheme, ECBC implementation, Energy Audit of Government buildings, Hydrogen fuel utilization etc. Apart from these it was also emphasized that the action plan should list out policies in the state for Energy Efficiency and their impact in quantitative form so that targets could be set for the state which could provide a realistic picture of how much effort has gone into energy efficiency. Officials from Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GOI were also invited for the workshop virtually. Aashish Kudal and Vipul Shardanandan Project Coordinator welcomed all the participants on behalf of ASSOCHAM and requested for continuous support for successful completion of State Energy Efficiency Action Plan for the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Khem Singh Thakur Chief Engineer, DoE, Manoj Chaudhary S.E. DoE  and Balkar Singh Zonal Leader, ASSOCHAM encouraged the stakeholder departments to support and provide their suggestions for the action plan. The workshop was attended by more than 30 senior government officials from various stakeholder departments such as Buildings, Industries, Agriculture, Transportation, DISCOM /Utilities and Municipalities and gave suggestions for the State Energy Efficiency Action Plan. ASSOCHAM presented the inception report and surveys for the stakeholder inputs and suggestions to be incorporated in the action plan and their suggestions were noted.
