On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the historic Shri Hanuman Temple at Jakhu in Shimla. He offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state. Later, the Chief Minister took part in the traditional Dussehra celebrations and lit the effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran. The burning of these effigies symbolises the eternal triumph of truth and goodness over evil.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Dussehra is a festival that upholds the victory of virtue over vice. He called upon the citizens to take inspiration from the festival and come together to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society. The event was attended by Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, Mayor Surinder Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, HIMUDA Vice Chairman Yashwant Chajatta, Municipal Corporation Councillors, OSD to CM Ritesh Kapret, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap, and representatives of various organizations. Several other dignitaries and members of the public also participated in the celebrations.
