Unlike any other day, today’s morning was very much special as the premises of Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh, echoed with students wishing their teachers “Happy Teachers’ Day”! During the Special Assembly, rich tributes were paid to Dr. S Radhakrishnan to commemorate his birth anniversary — a zealous advocate of education and one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times.
The bubbly and cheerful students could be seen gifting teachers’ handmade cards, flowers and sweets making them feel special as well as honoring them. The teachers graciously accepted the love and warmth of their students in all humility and blessed them with all the success in life.
This age-old custom is celebrated in the premises of DVPS with great fervor and enthusiasm every year. A surprise entertainment programme had been prepared by the students of Classes 7 to 11 and the hard work and sincerity with which the children performed was touching. The festivities began with a devotional dance invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha, which was followed by an enriching speech by Aarushi Dwivedi, Class X, recounting the rich contribution made by Dr S Radhakrishnan, who has immortalized himself till posterity. A gidda performance by the students left everyone spellbound and teachers could not resist themselves from the temptation of tapping their feet to its tune and made it the most memorable moment. Finally the celebrations ended with the speeches by Chairman, Rajeev Sharma and Principal, Namita Lal who were greatly elated and wished all the teachers, success and prosperity.
