Edwardian Kiddies Showcase Immense Talent during Phulwari 2014

An evening of fun, frolic and entertainment was planned for the parents by the Junior Wing of St Edwards School, as the Principal, faculty members and supports staff warmly welcomed all to celebrate Phulwari – 2014. Hon’ble Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest who was accompanied with MLA Anirudh Thakur, DC Dinesh Malhotra, City Mayor Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Tikendar Panwar among other dignitaries. Bishop Ignatius L. Mascarenhas and School Principal Anil Sequeira greeted the Chief Guest who was then escorted to the school ground to hoist the flag and take the Guard of Honour after which the event was declared open. Rev Fr Francis felicitated the Hon’ble Minster, Principal Sequeira presented a token gift on behalf of the school and the Vice Principal. Rev Fr Naveen gave a token of appreciation to Bishop Mascarenhas to mark the celebrations.

The School Captain Aditya Sood gave a welcome speech after which the event began with a prayer song and a welcome dance, which was both soothing and thrilling. Parth, Arman, Anirudh, Prajwal, Arnav and Arman gave exhilarating and gripping introductions to the events that were lined up for the day.

Students of nursery class took the ground in colourful costumes representing the Animal Kingdom. They enacted on the song “Prem Se Humko Jeene Do” and won a huge applause from the audience as well as won quite a few hearts with their cheery performance. Next in line was a beautiful symphony by students of Class I, the artistic movements and rhythmic display was quite impressive, which was the followed by few Karate techniques emphasizing on its importance in todays’ world, as picking up some defensive moves always help in dire need.

Students of Kindergarten then stepped up and gave us ‘India at a Glance’. The colours of the flag were hoisted with the national emblem, animal, fruit, bird and game being highlighted to make us touch our roots. Each and every performance was based on a theme, which delighted all the parents. After this followed the Tribal Dance performance by students of Class II, and then through a melody of songs depicting different states of India, Class III students bought home the unity of our country. A tribute was paid to Hundred Years of Cinema, as students of Class V danced to some amazing old and new Bollywood numbers.

Next presentation was a Bihu dance, an Assamese rhapsody to entertain the audience which was followed by an equally amusing display by students of Class X titled “Himalaya Ki Godh Se”, a grand finale loved and hugely applauded by everyone.

Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister then addressed the students and congratulated them on their brilliant performances and said that it was a pleasure to see such cute and awesome performances and especially that each and every student was given a chance to showcase his skills. He also laid emphasis on the good quality education being imparted in the school and the efforts being made by the government to further improve educational standards in the state. Bishop Mascarenhas also congratulated all the students and the faculty members for putting up such an impressive show.

School Captain Aditya then read the school report and highlighted the achievements of students at various levels, be it academic, in sports or in cultural event. St Edwards had scored well in all the fields and was setting the example for future generations.

The day ended with the prize distribution by the Hon’ble Minister !!!
