All out efforts would be made by the State Government to convert the CD Cooperative Credit Society Limited Gohar, Mandi into Bank and discussion would be held with Centre government and RBI to resolve technicalities in this direction. This was said by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while presiding over the closing session of 59th General Meeting of The CD Co-operative Credit Society Limited Gohar, Mandi today. Chief Minister said the CD Co-operative Credit Society Gohar was doing well in Mandi district. It started on 30 June 1957 under the name of Chachiot Development Block Society and since then, this Society has create a special place for it the sector. The total business of the Society has reached about Rs. 1500 crore which speaks of it’s good work and commitment, he added. While appreciating the efforts of the Society, the Chief Minister said that the society has reached an important stage after completion of 64 years today and has 66,298 members.

It is providing doorstep banking facility to its members in district Mandi. He said the Society has 49 branches and two extension boards and has disbursed loans worth more than Rs. 165 crore. He emphasized on strengthening  the mechanism for recovery of loans. Jai Ram Thakur said that cooperative was a strong sector, which has reach everywhere. This concept of working together, moving forward with mutual cooperation has always been present in our villages. The spirit of togetherness in good or bad and extending help to each other is the root of co-operation, which further took the form of a big movement. The Chief Minister said that CD Credit Co-operative Society Limited has immense potential for the expansion. Whether it is a demand for expansion outside Mandi district or providing 0.5 percent (half percent) more interest to the Society on the deposits in the State Co-operative Bank, the State Government would make every effort to find a way out in these matters.

He also released CD Darpan 2021-22 magazine of the Society on the occasion. Earlier, President of the CD Credit Co-Operation Limited Kamal Rana welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him of various activities of the Society. He also detailed various demands of the cooperative society to the Chief Minister. MLAs Rakesh Jamwal, Vinod Kumar and Inder Singh Gandhi, Zila Parishad Chairman Pal Verma, Milk Federation Chairman Nihal Chand Sharma, Co-operative Society Vice Chairman Karam Chand Saini and Shyam Lal Kashyap, members of Board of Directors Ravi Singh, Dharampal Thakur, MahenderThakur, Vikrant Thakur, Shiv Prakash, Lal Singh, Sohan Singh Thakur, Manjit Parmar, Devindra Rana, Baldev Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri and other officers and members of the Cooperative Society were also present on the occasion.
