In a stirring tribute to the nation’s bravehearts and the undying spirit of patriotism, the Ministry of Culture has launched the nationwide initiative “Ek Desh Ek Dhadkan” (One Nation, One Heartbeat). The campaign aims to bring together citizens across India in a shared expression of national pride, with the slogan #EkDeshEkDhadkan gaining widespread traction across digital platforms. It reflects a collective outpouring of gratitude for the armed forces and reverence for the national flag, the Tiranga.

In just 48 hours since its launch, all 43 cultural institutions under the Ministry’s purview have joined the initiative with enthusiastic participation. As a symbolic gesture of unity, these institutions have changed their social media display pictures to the Indian flag, saluting the valor and sacrifice of the nation’s unsung heroes.

Further amplifying the message of national unity, more than 60 prominent heritage monuments across India have been illuminated in the colors of the Indian flag under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Iconic sites such as the Red Fort, Safdarjung Tomb, and Purana Qila in Delhi; Kumbhalgarh and Chittorgarh in Rajasthan; Udaygiri Caves in Odisha; Ashokan Column in Bihar; Fort Ballarpur in Maharashtra; Rang Ghar in Assam; Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka; and Leh Palace in Ladakh, among many others, have become glowing symbols of patriotic pride. Cultural landmarks like the Victoria Memorial (West Bengal), Salarjung Museum (Andhra Pradesh), and NGMA Delhi also joined the celebrations, with the National Archives of India lighting up its iconic building in Tricolor.

Adding a personal touch to the initiative, Union Minister of Culture,  Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, visited Qutub Minar on 14 May 2025, where a special Tiranga projection mapping paid tribute to the armed forces. The Minister lauded the bravery of India’s defenders and highlighted the campaign’s role in reinvigorating a collective national spirit.

To further engage the public, institutions under the Ministry are rolling out a variety of community-oriented programs such as storytelling sessions, painting and musical tributes, special exhibitions, quizzes, and Tiranga Rallies with mass participation. Through these vibrant and inclusive activities, “Ek Desh Ek Dhadkan” seeks to unite the country in a singular, powerful heartbeat of patriotism and gratitude.
