In light of the recent unprecedented rains, flash floods, and landslides that have caused significant damage to roads and infrastructure in various districts of Himachal Pradesh, the state government has made the decision to reschedule and adjust the monsoon break for government and private schools affiliated with the HP Board of School Education. The primary objective is to prioritize the safety and security of students and employees during these adverse conditions.

Revised Monsoon Break Schedule:

Kullu District:

  • Existing Schedule: Monsoon Break from 23.07.2023 to 14.08.2023
  • Revised Schedule: Preponed to 10.07.2023 to 01.08.2023

Lahaul & Spiti District:

  • Existing Schedule: Monsoon Break from 17.07.2023 to 27.08.2023
  • Revised Schedule: Preponed to 10.07.2023 to 20.08.2023

Kinnaur, Pangi, and Bharmour (Tribal Areas):

  • Existing Schedule: Monsoon Break from 22.07.2023 to 27.07.2023
  • Revised Schedule: Preponed to 10.07.2023 to 15.07.2023

Summer Break Schedule: (Other Schools)

For all districts, the summer break schedule has also been adjusted to ensure the same number of vacation days while maintaining the overall teaching days. The revised summer break schedule is as follows:

  • Existing Schedule: Summer Break from 22.07.2023 to 27.07.2023
  • Revised Schedule: Preponed to 10.07.2023 to 15.07.2023

It is important to note that schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, or any other education board have the authority to make their own decisions regarding school closures, taking into account ongoing exams and local weather conditions. However, the government advises all schools to prioritize the safety and security of students and staff at all times.

Ensuring Safety Amidst Adverse Conditions: Flash Floods : Monsoon Break

Given the severe impact of the recent natural disasters, it is crucial to take necessary precautions and ensure the safety of students and employees. The rescheduling of the monsoon break aims to mitigate potential risks associated with commuting and operating schools during such adverse conditions.

Compliance and Decision-Making:

All concerned parties are requested to comply with the revised monsoon break schedule. The government/private schools are urged to consider their own exigencies, ongoing exams, and local weather conditions when making decisions regarding school closures. It is imperative that the safety and security of students and employees remain the top priority.
