Flood-Hit Sujanpur Gets Govt Relief Boost

CM Sukhu today visited several disaster-affected villages in the Sujanpur constituency of Hamirpur district, assuring full support to affected families and reviewing ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During his visit to Khairi and surrounding villages, the Chief Minister assessed the damage caused by recent floods and landslides and later inspected the land subsidence-hit area of Chabutra. Interacting with displaced families, he announced a comprehensive relief package of ₹8.70 lakh per family. This includes ₹7 lakh from the State Government for house reconstruction and ₹70,000 for essential household items.

Additionally, local MLA Captain Ranjit Singh pledged ₹1 lakh in assistance to each affected family, enhancing the total aid being provided.

CM Sukhu informed that similar damage assessments are being conducted across other parts of Hamirpur, and the government is committed to ensuring timely relief to all affected families. He also stated that the matter of transferring safe forest land for house construction will be taken up with the Central Government, along with a report on the overall monsoon-related damages in Himachal Pradesh.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister held a public grievance redressal meeting at Kutheda, where he heard local concerns and assured swift administrative response.

The visit was marked by the presence of MLA Suresh Kumar, Chairman of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Ram Chandra Pathania, State Nasha Nivaran Board Coordinator Naresh Thakur, and senior leaders including Dr. Pushpender Verma and Suman Bharti, along with Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh and SP Bhagat Singh Thakur.
