A day of celebrations at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, as it was time for some fun and merriment during the Annual School Fete – 2014. Students and parents from Shimla as well as outstation came to enjoy themselves at the various food and game stalls, each set up and managed by the teachers of the school.
Notable stalls included this year were the mouth watering Paneer and Chicken Tikkas, the ever popular food court included stalls such as Chole Bature, Momos, Dosas, Biryani, Ice-creams, Chat Papri, Bhelpuri, Kabab Rolls, Dominos Pizzas, Candy Floss, Popcorns and much more.
There was a miniature gaming arcade, which was a huge hit as children of all ages had something to amuse themselves, from Bouncing Castles, Knocking the Cans and Roll the Dice for the very young, to skill games like Guess the Weight of the Cake for the older ones. The grand lucky draw was watched by many eager eyes, who were all hoping to be among the lucky few to win a prize. Other games were the Dart Game, Crown and Anchor, Lucky Seven, Tambola, Chocolate Wheel, Feeding the Clown, Shooting Gallery, Slow Cycle Race, Biogel Balls and Sorting Beads, Lucky Dip, Hoopla, Dropping a Coin the Bucket and much more. The Jam Session raised the verve and enthusiasm level of the crowd.
A special novelty corner managed by the Headmaster Christopher Robinson and his wife Dorothy Robinson, included official school merchandise and crockery with the school logo on it, school batches, car stickers, school logo mugs and many other souvenirs.
The towering excitement level among the students could clearly be seen as Anirudh, a Class 6 student expressed his views and said, “This is most awaited event of the year as we get to enjoy with our parents and teachers”. Aditya, a student of Class 8 said, “My parents have come from Delhi, living in a boarding school, I hardly get time to meet my parents as it is only during winter vacations that I go home. Through this fete we get an opportunity to spend some quality time with our parents and have lots of fun”. Another student of Class 11, Yuvraj said, “Not only my parents but my relatives also come to the Fete every year. More than a school Fete, it is family get together for us as there is something for everybody and especially for kids who love the games stalls”.
Anita Singh who had come from Ludhiana, mother of one of the students said, “Annual Fete gives us an opportunity to know the teachers better and create a good rapport with them as it is not a formal occasion”. Another parent, Anurag Sharma said, “It feels great to see happiness on the faces of our children as they enjoy during the Fete. For us nothing is more important than to see the contentment on the faces of our children and the satisfaction of sending them to a right school which caters to all their needs”.
The event was as always, a resounding success and everyone had a wonderful time !!!
