Tiny tots of Orchid Prep School, New Shimla won hearts with their innocent performances during the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations held in the school here today. Chief Guest, Madhu Sood, Ex Mayor, Shimla City, was warmly greeted by the School Principal Neelam Vij and the tiny tots as she presided over the function. A potted marigold flowering plant was sweetly presented to her by Roheen, who was dressed up as Mother Teresa. Adopting the theme of Swach Bharat to be launched on 2nd October, 2014 by Prime Minister Narendar Modi, the chief guest distributed plants to all parents and guest from the Red Cross Society present to witness the gala event.
It was time for the little ones to take the centre stage, dressed in various colourful outfits depicting the pre- and post-independence era, they sweetly presented a musical skit taking all on a historical journey. Ananya Bisht was dress as Jhansi Ki Rani Laxmi Bai; Naveet Karn as Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru; Ayush as Mahatama Gandhi; Nilaax as Sardar Valabh Bhai Patel; Adhira Sharma as Sarojini Naidu; Shashwat as Bhagat Singh; Aratrika as Raj Guru; Raunak Singh as Manmohan Singh; Aradhya, Anya, Naveen as Bapu Ke Teen Bandar; Arnav Singh as Nathu Ram Godse and Shradha Kaushal as Sonia Gandhi. Each kid played his or her role perfectly teaching as well as learning something during the celebrations.
Principal Neelam Vij then addressed the gathering and said, “Such celebrations in the lives of these little children at an early stage are importance as they adapt and learn easily. It is through this kind of learning experiences that children know about their country, a sense of patriotism is instilled into the young minds. The values of clean and green India is also taught to children. I thank the parents for their cooperation as well as for their active participation in their kids’ lives”. She further thanked the chief guest for sparing her valuable time and for being a part of the function.
The chief guest Madhu Sood also appreciated the efforts of the school and staff for making the children understand the importance of such days and by distributing plants a green message was being given to parents as well. She also distributed sweets to al kids after the conclusion of the event.
