India will co-host the 2nd WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi from 17th to 19th December 2025, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). The summit will bring together global leaders, policymakers, researchers, and experts to discuss innovation, evidence-based practices, and future strategies in traditional medicine.

A Curtain Raiser Programme for the summit was held on 8th December 2025, chaired by Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of Ayush. In his address, the Minister emphasized India’s growing leadership in traditional medicine and highlighted the role of national research institutions in strengthening scientific credibility and promoting international collaboration.

In the National Capital Region, the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Delhi, under CCRAS, continues to be a key hub for Ayurvedic research and clinical advancement. Dr. Hemanta Panigrahi, Director In-charge, stated that CARI’s integrated research—spanning clinical, fundamental, and policy studies—has significantly advanced its capacity to address lifestyle and non-communicable diseases. He added that the institute’s specialty clinics, ongoing studies, and professional training programs are aligned with national priorities for evidence-based traditional healthcare.

The WHO Summit will feature ministerial discussions, scientific panels, exhibitions, and global knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at promoting the integration of traditional medicine into public health systems worldwide.
