Governor and Chief Minister pay Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary by garlanding his statue at the Ridge, Shimla. The Governor said that Mahatma Gandhi established the ideals in his life of adopting truth, non-violence, religion and Indian traditions with truth and integrity. Gandhi Ji was a great personality and dedicated his entire life for the cause of the nation. On his birth anniversary, we should resolve to keep simplicity in life and devotion towards the country which would be a true tribute to him.

On the occasion, a photo exhibition on ‘Gandhi Darshan’ was also put up by the Information and Public Relations Department. The Governor and Chief Minister visited the exhibition. Later, the Governor and the Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri at CTO Chowk on his birth anniversary. The Chief Minister also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his statue in Khadi Aashram, Shimla and later visited the Shiv Mandir and participated in the cleanliness drive. The patriotic songs and bhajans were also recited on the occasion.
