In a vibrant celebration of national unity, the Foundation Days of Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur were commemorated at a special programme held at Lok Bhavan today. The event was organised under the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and shared traditions of the four states.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla graced the occasion. Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, Dharmendra Bhardwaj, attended as a special guest, representing the cultural ethos of his home state.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor highlighted that celebrating the statehood days of different states in Himachal Pradesh strengthens mutual harmony, love and brotherhood. He said such programmes, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, provide meaningful platforms for cultural exchange and help bring people closer by sharing traditions and values essential to the nation’s collective progress. He extended warm greetings to residents of Uttar Pradesh and the Northeastern states living in Himachal Pradesh.
As part of the ceremony, Dharmendra Bhardwaj honoured the Governor and Lady Governor on behalf of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, while the Governor felicitated visiting dignitaries with traditional Himachali caps and shawls.
The programme also featured a short documentary highlighting the cultural diversity of the participating states, followed by a vibrant cultural performance by artists from Pooja Kala Manch.
