Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla hoisted the National Flag in the Raj Bhavan campus on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.
While congratulating the people of the State on Independence Day, the Governor wished them a happy and prosperous life. He said that this is a historic day when the nation got freedom from the slavery of foreign empires. He added that the sacrifice of innumerable freedom fighters and the struggles of brave hearts gave us freedom.
“On Independence Day, we pay tribute to all the patriots who sacrificed their life for Independence. We also pay tribute to those brave hearts who have made the supreme sacrifice after freedom to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, and to protect the borders of the country,” said Shukla.
Wishing for the progress and all-round development of the State, he said that we all should take a pledge that with more dedication and commitment, we would discharge our duty for the progress of the nation and the State. He said that for the last few years, natural calamities have been continuously affecting the life of people in Himachal. He appealed to the people to contribute towards environmental protection, besides ensuring their active participation in the campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “Ek Boota Maa Ke Naam”. He said that we should all make collective efforts to make the country a developed nation.
The Governor presented the national flags to the Raj Bhavan employees on the occasion. Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to the Governor, was also present on the occasion.
