Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar arrived at Samdoh Army Helipad during his two day visit to Lahaul-Spiti today, where he was received by Army Officers. It is his first visit to the tribal area of the State.
“The main purpose of my visit to the army area was to tie rakhi sent by the girl students from the state of Goa to the soldiers posted in the border areas of Himachal”, said Arlekar. Lady Governor Anagha Arlekar was also accompanying the Governor.
On the occasion, the Governor said he was fortunate to have the opportunity to express gratitude towards the brave soldiers of the country by tying Rakhi to them. He said that earlier he also used to collect rakhis on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan in Goa and send them to the soldiers posted in the border areas. But, this time he got the opportunity to personally visit the soldiers, he added.
“We are proud of our soldiers, who are protecting our borders day and night from the enemies by being stationed in such inaccessible areas in adverse conditions”, said the Governor. He further said that it was important to express love and affection towards the brave soldiers, to awaken the feeling of patriotism in our future generations.
The Governor interacted with the soldiers and also shared his experiences.
On this occasion, the Lady Governor added more enthusiasm amongst the soldiers by singing patriotic songs.
Later, the Governor also visited the Lepcha outpost and interacted with Indian Tibet Border Police personnel.
