A delegation of journalists from Odisha, visiting Himachal Pradesh under a Press Information Bureau programme, called on Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan today. The delegation, on a ten-day tour covering Shimla, Kullu, and Manali, shared their experiences and discussed the state’s rich culture and traditions.
Governor Gupta welcomed the journalists and said such exchange programmes reflect the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted that India’s diverse languages and cultures are united by shared values, which strengthen national integration.
The Governor spoke about Himachal Pradesh’s development initiatives, citing projects like the Atal Tunnel and improved connectivity in remote areas. He emphasized the importance of promoting local products to support the rural economy, encouraging medicinal plant cultivation, natural farming, and linking tourism with sports and youth skill development.
Governor Gupta also underscored the need for sustainable industrial activity and stressed engaging with all sections of society to further state development.
Assistant Director of PIB Himachal Pradesh, Sanjeev Sharma, thanked the Governor and honoured him on the occasion. The delegation also toured Lok Bhavan and appreciated efforts to preserve the historic building. Secretary to the Governor, C.P. Verma, was present during the meeting.
