Kavinder Gupta said that India’s traditional education system has always emphasized the balanced integration of knowledge, moral values and character building, stressing that education should contribute to the overall development of an individual rather than merely securing employment.

Addressing the 9th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala as the Guest of Honour, the Governor congratulated the graduating students and urged them to use their knowledge and talent not only for personal success but also for the welfare of society and the nation.

During the ceremony, 511 students received degrees in different disciplines, while 32 students were awarded gold medals. Notably, 23 of the gold medalists were girls, which the Governor said reflected the success of the vision of Narendra Modi under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, with girls increasingly excelling in education, research and innovation.

Welcoming C. P. Radhakrishnan to Devbhoomi Himachal, the Governor said the presence of the Vice-President at the convocation added pride to the occasion. He noted that a convocation ceremony marks the completion of one important phase of life and the beginning of greater responsibilities.

He also appreciated the university for effectively implementing the National Education Policy 2020, which aims to make the education system more inclusive, multidisciplinary and skill-oriented. He commended the institution for encouraging research and innovation and introducing skill-based courses aligned with the objectives of the policy.

The Governor further lauded the university for publishing 34 significant works on the Indian knowledge tradition and translating books into languages listed in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, particularly Punjabi and Dogri, to promote Indian languages and culture.
