The Himachal Pradesh Government has announced a significant benefit for its Class-IV employees. Under the new provision, employees regularized after 15th May 2003 will now receive one year of regular service credit for every five years of daily wage service for pension calculation. Employees with ten years or more of daily wage service will be eligible for a maximum of two years’ regular service benefit.
The announcement was made by CM Sukhu during a high-level meeting. He stated that the move would particularly help those Class-IV employees who were previously ineligible for pension due to insufficient regular service. Under the revised rules, pension calculations under the CCS Pension Rules 1972 will now consider this additional service.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that these employees would be given an opportunity to opt for the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) once again. He recalled that the current government had reinstated OPS shortly after assuming office, ensuring financial and social security for State employees.
CM Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting employee interests and extending financial and welfare benefits to them regularly.
